1961 Gaisbergrennen

The first event was organized in 1929 by the city of Salzburg and the Austrian and Bavarian Automobile Club on the Gaisberg in Salzburg. The circuit with a length of 11.9 km was built between 1926-1928 on the suggestion of the Salzburg provincial governor Franz Rehrl who also acted as promoter of the the race. The race acted as a selection race for the international Alpine Cup for automobiles and the European Hill Climb Championship for motorcycles.
