Time flies when you’re having fun (or when moving to another home, have a baby daughter, restore a 700 convertible, build a garage etc.)…

I finally managed to free up time to look into updating the website. The old one was tedious to maintain and being developed in 2006, not compatible with smartphones and tablets (yes, back then these did not exist yet). Now, over 10 years later and with (too) many years of no maintenance of the website I am pleased to present “version 3” of bmw700.net. For those who started visiting this website only recently you might have missed the two previous versions. Version 1 went live in 2002 and looked like this:

Version 2 was launched late 2005 and was build from scratch by myself, including a home made content management system. The latter was working but was plain dreadful, causing more headaches then updates to the website.

Personally I quite liked the design of this version and it was hard to say goodbye to it, but it was time to move on and refresh the look and feel.

Version 3 is what you’re looking at now. It is powered by WordPress and I no longer need to worry about updating the backend. With its responsive design, the site is now also accessible on smartphones and tablets.

Now there is an option to register an user account which will enable to you post comments. So do please register to the website and start sharing your comments, questions or suggestions below any post or use the contact form to get in touch! Please also let me know by using the contact form when something is not working right. I will then try to fix it as soon as possible.

With the framework in place, the focus from here onwards will be on adding content and new features. Don’t be a stranger and check in now and then to look for updates :)
